Clinical research at TMC Health Cancer Center
Clinical trials give patients access to promising new approaches to cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment. At TMC Health Cancer Center, our research team works closely with your oncology providers to determine whether a clinical trial may be an appropriate part of your care.
Advancing Cancer Care Through Research
What are clinical trials?
Clinical trials are research studies that help us learn about new treatments, procedures or ways of caring for people. They’re designed very carefully so doctors can understand whether a new approach is safe, how well it works and how it compares to the treatments we already use.
Cancer clinical trials might look at:
- New medicines or combinations of medicines
- New types of radiation or surgery
- Better ways to find cancer early
- Ways to reduce side effects or improve day‑to‑day quality of life
By taking part in clinical research, we join cancer centers across the country in working toward two important goals: helping people today and improving cancer care for the future. It's part of our commitment to compassionate, forward-thinking care.
Your safety and your choice
Your safety and your rights always come first. Every clinical trial is reviewed by an Institutional Review Board (IRB) to make sure the study is ethical, scientifically sound and designed to protect the people who join it.
If your care team thinks a clinical trial might be a good option, they’ll walk you through:
- What the study is trying to learn
- What you would be asked to do
- Possible risks and benefits
- How the trial fits into your overall treatment plan
Joining a clinical trial is completely up to you. If a trial is offered, your team will walk you through the details in a clear, compassionate way so you can make the decision that feels right for you. Our goal is to help you feel informed, supported and confident—whatever you decide.
Current and future trials
TMC Health Cancer Center is growing its clinical research program. Right now, we aren’t able to share a public list of active trials. As new studies open, our team will share information directly with patients and families.
If you’d like to know whether a clinical trial might be an option for you, please reach out to our research team.
Why clinical trials matter
Clinical trials are essential for finding better ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer. They also help make sure new treatments work well for people of different ages, backgrounds and health histories. For some patients, a clinical trial may offer access to promising treatments that aren’t widely available yet.
How to get more information
Patients can’t request clinical‑trial participation through MyChart. If you have questions about eligibility, participation or upcoming research opportunities, please contact our oncology clinical research team directly.
